Saumur Champigny XL A.O.C. 2013, Domaine de la BESSIERE

Vineyard :

Our field, named the Domaine de la Bessière, is located in Souzay Champigny. The vineyard is spread over four villages: 3ha in Saumur, 1 ha in Dampierre sur Loire, 9 in Souzay Champigny and 2 ha in Parnay. The soils are mainly clay and limestone. We work in what we call Reasonnable Agriculture, our vines are trellised, with grass, the cantaloupe is worked. The monitoring of the maturity and vinification is made with our oenologist.

100 % Cabernet Franc

Vinification :

Waiting of the optimum maturity of each soil. Vinification is carried out in temperature controlled stainless steel tanks. According to the land, macerations last from 10 to 15 days. With the temperature maintained the Malo Lactic fermentation takes place just after. Then the best cuvée are blended to constitute the "XL" vintage. After aging in stainless steel vats, the bottling is done in the cellars.

Tasting Note :

Color: open and bright garnet
Nose: sweet red fruit, chocolate and sweet spices
Palate: round and structured, have also fruit jelly and cinnamon notes. Finally very fresh and invigorating in mouth

Serving Temperature :

Around 14-15°C

Food Association Advice :

Luncheon and dry meats, roasted meats, mild cheeses. Ideal for a dinner-aperitif.
