The Estate, as you know it today is the result of the work of five generations that succeeded one after the other. This is the son-in law of his son (Jules CHAUVIN 1867-1939) who has initiated the construction of the actual building whose construction began around 1910.The beginning of our adventure goes back to the middle of the 19th century. The first parcels of our land were acquired in 1859 by the ancestor of the family: Pierre Cochard (1812-1892). In 1930 Jules Chauvin (second name, 1906-1945), undertook to enlarge the building and he installs one of the first Vaslin grape press of the village. When he left for war, his wife, Marie, will take the control of the operations, quickly seconded by his son Pierre. In 1993, Paul-Eric Chauvin and Philippe CESBRON, recently joined by Mireille VIGNERON, then are in charge of the field and name the domain Pierre Chauvin. Our constant respect for the environment has led us, since 2000, to accede to the Charter “Terra Vitis” for integrated farming.

In 2005, we begin the conversion to organic farming for the first harvest certified AB (Organic Agriculture) in 2008. Today, it is with a great pride that we continue a familial tradition dating back of 150 years, always trying to improve ourselves to provide you  the best with the know-how inherited from our ancestors. The entire 15 hectares of Domaine Pierre Chauvin is located in the town of Rablay sur Layon. The terroir of Rablay is characterized by a gravel and sand dominant soil, with clay subsoil or weathered shale, providing to the wines a fruit and a flexibility from their youth age.  The proximity of the river allows, when the autumn is there, the development of noble rot that will give to our wines their characteristic sweetness.
